Kerala is set to providing free, high-speed Internet access to schools, public offices, and poor households by December. The project named Kerala Fiber Optic Network is in its last leg as 80% laying of fibre optics is completed. With intend to make digital connectivity a basic right, the project is similar to the government of India’s BharatNet project. BharatNet aims to provide free Internet for more than 20 lakh poor families and over 30,000 govt institutions.
