Samsung has developed a high-bandwidth memory chip integrated with AI processing power. The new processing-in-memory\architecture adds AI engines into Samsung’s HBM2 Aquabolt, which was launched in 2018. The new chip will accelerate large scale processing in data centres, high-performance computing systems, and AI-enabled mobile apps. The HBM-PIM uses the same HBM interface which means customers need not change hardware/ software to apply it into existing systems.
