Bengaluru is the highest paying city; new-age tech jobs top-earning: Survey

Golang, C# (C-Sharp), specialisation in Hadoop and ML jobs are the top-paying profiles earning Rs 24-35 lakh per annum, as per a Randstad study. These jobs saw an avg rise of 25-30% in salaries between 2019 and 2020. Bengaluru is the highest paying metropolis across the junior, mid and senior-levels with an avg salary of 16-20% higher than peers. IT and Internet and e-commerce top the list in terms of the industry pay package.

Bengaluru’s AI-hub to innovate for problems unique to India

Bengaluru’s Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Technologies Park will promote tech innovations in problems unique to India. One such service will be BhashaSetu which will enable real-time Indic language translation, both of speech to speech and speech to text. ARTPARK will also develop AI & Robotics facilities to support tech innovations. The park is established by the IISc and AI Foundry with seed funding of ₹170 cr from the Department of Science and Technology.

Tatas may pick up majority stake in e-pharmacy firm 1mg

The Tata group is in talks to acquire a majority stake in online pharmacy 1mg. The deal, if goes through, could intensify the battle in India’s e-pharmacy sector, as Tata, Reliance and Amazon are battling for a piece of pie. In Aug, Reliance Retail acquired a 60% stake in the parent company of Netmeds. Amazon also rolled out prescription drug delivery service in Bengaluru in partnership with Cloudtail. 1mg, as per reports, has been in talks to raise around $100 mn.

Apple to manufacture iPhone 12 in India; plans to hire 10K employees

Apple is reportedly planning to locally produce iPhone 12 series in India. The new ‘Made in India’ iPhone will be ready by mid-2021, according to a Business Standard Report. Wistron – Apple’s Taiwanese contract manufacturer – will produce the flagship iPhone 12 in Naraspura plant near Bengaluru and has planned to hire 10k employees for the new plant. The plant has an investment plan of over 2900 crore INR and will be fully functional by October this year.

Quick Heal’s Annual Threat Report 2020 labels India to be the most lucrative target for cybercriminals with New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Pune being the hard-hit cities. It detected, blocked over 1B cyberthreats in 2019 with 2.9M daily detections. Maharashtra (38M) and Delhi-NCR (25M) are the most-targeted regions followed by West Bengal, Gujarat, Karnataka. IoT based devices like smart TVs, Phones etc are highly exploited to steal and hence sell data.
