Cisco’s VC app Webex recorded 590 mn users in Sep and is likely to cross 600 mn this month. Almost 2X if compared to March when countries started locking down due to the pandemic. Webex is focusing on schools and has launched a product for classrooms with ability to host a large number of students, divide them into small groups, and bring it back together. Cisco has acquired BabbleLabs in Aug to roll out a feature to filter background noise in VC meetings.
India has seen the highest adoption of Cisco’s virtual meeting app WebEx – from 1000 users a month before March to 900,000 users currently. A large part of these 4M sign-ups has already been converted to paid customers; over 50% are SMEs. Cisco WebEx has helped at least 200 govt organizations across 26 states and central govt entities to connect and collaborate securely. Over 100 HC judges and 400 police stations in Telangana connected on WebEx.
Cisco WebEx’s meeting platform saw 25B meeting minutes generated by 500M users. It is likely to grow 3X after the launch of their new voice assistant, WebEx Assistant which is now available for a free trial and can even be integrated with WebEx enterprise free trial for a fuller experience. They have extended DLP retention, Legal Hold, eDiscovery in WebEx meetings for security purposes and will soon implement AES 256 Bit encryption.
