Ex-OpenAI Employees Support Elon Musk’s Lawsuit to Preserve Nonprofit Oversight

Twelve former OpenAI employees have filed a legal brief backing Elon Musk's lawsuit aimed at halting OpenAI's transition from a nonprofit to a for-profit structure. They argue that removing nonprofit oversight would fundamentally violate OpenAI's founding mission to prioritize humanitarian goals over profit. OpenAI contends that restructuring is necessary to raise $40 billion in funding, asserting that its mission will remain unchanged. A jury trial is scheduled for spring 2026.
