Shopify CEO Mandates AI Utilization Before Approving New Hires

Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke has instructed employees to demonstrate that tasks cannot be accomplished using AI before requesting additional headcount or resources. In a recent memo, Lütke emphasized that "reflexive AI usage" is now a baseline expectation at Shopify, highlighting AI as the most rapid shift in work processes during his career.
