Ethereum's long-awaited proof-of-stake transition will begin on September 6th

<p>The Merge, a system-wide transition that will begin on September 6th, has been announced by the Ethereum Foundation. The first domino will fall through the activation of the Bellatrix upgrade. The rest of the Merge process will then start, with a completion date anticipated to fall between September 10 and 20. The changeover of Ethereum from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake, two distinct ways of authenticating transactions on the blockchain, is referred to as The Merge.</p>
