UP-based research scholar builds sensor-based walking stick for visually impaired

<p>Sajal Babu – a research scholar from MNNIT – has developed a ‘smart blind stick’ for visually impaired people. The stick is equipped with a radio frequency (RF) transmitter/receiver, Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) sensor, an ultrasonic sensor, a rechargeable lithium battery that can run for 24 hours. It can alert users about the luminosity, hindrances in their surroundings. He also plans to add sensors that will automatically navigate the path using Google Maps.</p>
