Cyberbullying in Japan now carries a one-year jail sentence

<p>A Law that punishes those found guilty of cyberbullying in Japan with up to a year in prison was passed. It was passed as a result of the suicide of a reality star who had been harassed online. The rule went into effect as a result of the rise in cyberbullying offenses and their negative effects on the mental health of the victims. Hana Kimura, a 22-year-old professional wrestler with ink hair and a role in the popular Netflix series "Terrace House," committed suicide in 2020.</p>
