Data protection is now treated as fundamental citizen right in Brazil

<p>The Brazilian Congress has passed an amendment that makes the protection of personal data a fundamental citizen right. A new section has been added to Article 5 which states that &quot;the right to personal data protection, including in digital media, is guaranteed under the limits of the law.&quot; Rodrigo Pacheco, the president of the Brazilian Senate, said the passage of the amendment demonstrates Congress&#39; dedication &quot;to the non-negotiable ideal of individual liberty.&quot;<br /> &nbsp;</p>
