Major digital giants pledged to take new initiatives to combat online extremism by eliminating more violent content and encouraging media literacy among young users. Critics have slammed websites like YouTube and Facebook for years, claiming that the firms have allowed violent language, misinformation, and hate speech to flourish on their platforms. YouTube announced that it would strengthen its policies against violent extremism and band anything violent.
