Proton CEO Shuts Down Indian VPN Server as a Protest Against Cybersecurity Rules

<p>In order to "defend" subscribers' privacy, the Swiss internet service provider Proton is transferring its servers out of India. In an effort to voice opposition to forthcoming cybersecurity regulations that require VPN providers to retain Indian users' data locally, the firm opted to shut down servers there. ExpressVPN, situated in the British Virgin Islands, and Nord Security both turned down equipment earlier.</p>
