Under Data Protection Bill, Government Proposes Fine of Up To Rs 500 Cr for Each Data Breach
<p>The government has increased the penalty amount for breaking rules in the proposed draught Digital Personal Protection Bill 2022, which was released. The draught personal data protection bill, released in 2019, proposes a penalty of Rs 15 Cr or 4% of an entity's global revenue. The aim of this Bill is to provide for processing of digital personal data in a way that recognises individuals' right to personal data protection, explanatory note of the draft stated.</p>
