The government has increased the penalty amount for breaking rules in the proposed draught Digital Personal Protection Bill 2022, which was released. The draught personal data protection bill, released in 2019, proposes a penalty of Rs 15 Cror 4% of an entity's global revenue. The aimof this Bill is to provide forprocessing of digital personal data in a way that recognises individuals' right to personal data protection, explanatory note of the draft stated.
