Fitbit bags FDA approval for passive heart monitoring algorithm

<p>Fitbit trackers allow users to monitor their heart rate, but they must first access the Fitbit app and manually begin a check, an unnecessary step that will be eliminated. The smartwatch will soon be able to monitor the body for indicators of atrial fibrillation, a serious medical disease that can lead to health problems like blood clots in the heart. According to the company the technology is 98% accurate and is validated by a study involving over 450,000 patients.</p>
