College courses being redesigned; AI, data science to become more valuable

<p>Technical institutions across India have elected to reset their courses. They will be shutting the branches that do not have many takers and instead opting for other degrees in growing sectors as part of a big re-engineering exercise. The AICTE approved nearly 40,000 seats in new, developing programmes in 2021-22, with AI and machine learning receiving the most seats, followed by AI and data science. These seats are filling up quicker than the major engineering fields.</p>
