China invests heavily in basic chips to become self-sufficient

<p>As a move toward increasing semiconductor self-sufficiency, China is leading the globe in the manufacturing of new chip plants. China is expected to build 31 major semiconductor plants over the course of 4 years through 2024. A significant percentage of China's endeavors aim to produce chips with more advanced, older applied sciences. This has caused several Chinese chip producers to reassess their strategy and focus more efforts on lower-end chip technology.</p>
