DoT Eliminates Requirement for Testing Variety of Broadband Equipment

<p>In an effort to hasten the adoption of broadband in the nation, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has switched the testing requirements for some devices, such as routers, cordless phones, transmission terminal equipment, and LAN switches, to a self-certification regime. The modification, which will take effect on January 1, will assist businesses in cutting down on the time needed to test and certify a product before it can be placed on the market.</p>
