Facebook safety, security spending since 2016 tops $13B

<p>After reports that it had "failed to fix the platform's ill effects", Facebook has said that it has invested over $13B in user safety, and platform security since 2016. Now having 40,000 security professionals employed, compared to 10,000 five years ago, FB played down the bad effects that its app Instagram reportedly has on young users. Facebook said its AI has helped it block 3B fake accounts, and remove false information spread Covid-19 posts.</p>
