Government revives proposed regulation of digital news media

<p>A bill establishing a new registration system for newspapers is being prepared by the federal government. The industry of digital news media will also be included. The Registration of Press and Periodicals Bill, 2019, along with the amendments, will be proposed by the administration to the Cabinet soon. The Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867, which currently governed India&#39;s newspaper and printing press industries, would be replaced by the new bill.</p>
