Meta Fined $276M By Ireland's Privacy Watchdog Over Leaked User Data
<p>For failing to adequately protect the phone numbers and other personal information of more than half a billion users from so-called data scrapers, a top European regulator fined Meta Platforms Inc., 265 million euros, or around $276M. The fine imposed on Meta by Ireland's Data Protection Commission is the most recent example of how regional authorities are growing more active in their enforcement of the privacy legislation against major technological corporations.<br /> </p>
