Meta, the parent company of Facebook, settles a decade-old data-privacy case

<p>Meta Platforms Inc. has agreed to resolve a ten-year class action lawsuit over the firm's usage of "cookies" in 2010 and 2011 that tracked people online even after they signed off the Facebook platform. Meta has promised to delete all of the data it "wrongfully gathered" during that time as part of the proposed settlement. In addition, the corporation, which made $39.37b in earnings in 2021, would pay $90m to users who registered a claim.</p>
