RBI Recruited Banks to Beta-Test Digipee for Retail Transactions

<p>RBI has enlisted help of 5 banks to develop the digital rupee, or digipee, for retail transactions. Following the test launch of the central bank digital currency (CBDC) for wholesale section to pay secondary market transactions in authority securities, this is a logical next step. Customers are targeted by the digipee for retail, which provides them with access to secure money for payment and other settlements.</p>
