Tiki, Rival to TikTok, to Cease Operations in India as Ban Fallout Continues

Tiki, a short-form video app that gained popularity in India following the ban on TikTok, is set to shut down its operations on June 27. Despite having around 35 mn monthly active users, Tiki's demise comes as a surprise. It is unclear how the Singapore-based app was funded, but industry executives speculate it may have been a subsidiary of a Chinese video app banned by the Indian government in 2020.
