Toyota triples its US electric vehicle investment in North Carolina

<p>Toyota will triple its planned investment for its first battery manufacturing in the United States. In place of the initial $1.3B disclosed, the automaker now intends to invest $3.8B in the construction of a plant close to Greensboro, North Carolina. It is expected to start making batteries for battery-electric and hybrid cars in North Carolina in 2025. The additional funding puts Toyota&#39;s total global investment&nbsp;towards its 2035 goal of being carbon-neutral at $5.6B.</p>
