China plans to launch its own digital currency

<p>China is planning to launch its digital currency with the help of its central bank to stay ahead of the global competition, said Global Times. China&rsquo;s central bank &ndash; People&rsquo;s Bank of China is set to conduct trials of the digital currency in cities such as tech hub Shenzhen in the country&rsquo;s southern Guangdong Province. The trials will expand to more areas in the next year. Reportedly, domestic internet giants, Alibaba and Tencent will also participate in the trials.</p>
