Hackers Compromise 16 Chrome Extensions, Exposing Over 600,000 Users to Data Theft
In mid-December 2024, cybercriminals hijacked at least 16 Chrome browser extensions, affecting over 600,000 users. The attack involved phishing campaigns that compromised developer credentials, enabling the injection of malicious code into legitimate extensions. This code targeted sensitive user information, including passwords and session tokens. Users are advised to update their extensions, change passwords, and monitor for unusual activity.
