More than half of Indian startups are in non-metros: Parliament

<p>The majority of well-known Indian startups are based in non-metropolitan areas. As of June 30, 2022, the Department for promotion of Industry and Internal Trade had recognized 72,993 startups, of which 34,473 (48%) were located in the major cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, and Ahmedabad. Therefore, non-metropolitan cities are home to more than 50% of the recognized startups.</p>
