IISc Develops Zinc-Air Battery Method for Efficient Hydrogen Peroxide Production

Researchers at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have innovated an energy-efficient technique to produce hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) using zinc-air batteries. This method employs a metal-free, carbon-based catalyst to generate H₂O₂ directly within the battery, offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional production methods that rely on rare metal catalysts. Additionally, the generated H₂O₂ can degrade industrial pollutants, such as toxic dyes.
