Meta Ends US Fact-Checking Program, Introduces Community Notes

Meta will officially terminate its third-party fact-checking program in the US by Monday afternoon, replacing it with the Community Notes system. Announced by global policy head Joel Kaplan, this change affects Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. Community Notes allows users to add context to posts, aiming to reduce bias. The program will gradually roll out without penalizing users. Meta plans to extend Community Notes internationally in the future.
