Russian Watchdog Blocks Viber App Amid Regulatory Crackdown
Russia's telecommunications regulator, Roskomnadzor, has banned the Viber messaging app, citing violations of anti-terrorism and extremism regulations. This follows earlier crackdowns on communication platforms and VPNs. Officials claim the app was misused for illicit activities, though some view this as part of a broader effort to control digital communication. Viber's parent company, Rakuten, has yet to respond to the ban.
