FedEx to begin testing autonomous drone delivering starting 2023

<p>FedEx has partnered with the California-based Elroy Air to test the company&rsquo;s VTOL cargo system in 2023. While most of the autonomous drone market has focused on delivery from retailer to the customer, Elroy&rsquo;s flagship model, Chaparral introduced in January, is made to deliver as much as 500 pounds of cargo over a 300-mile distance. FedEx said that they will initially begin testing for middle-mile logistics operations with moving shipments between sorting locations.</p>
