Government will issue E-passports with embedded chips in 2022

<p>FM Nirmala Sitharaman, while presenting the Union Budget 2022, announced that the government will begin issuing e-passports with electronic chips this year. RFID and biometrics will be used in the e-passports, and the electronic chip will contain important security-related data encoded within it. The e-passports will secure biometric data and allow for faster passage through immigration checkpoints around the world.</p>
