Microsoft adds support for Arm processors to Azure virtual machines
<p>It's been a long road, but Microsoft announced on April 4 that its partnership with Ampere Computing has resulted in a preview of Arm support on Azure virtual machines. Ampere is a new company that develops server chips and it had signed Microsoft and Tencent Holdings last year. For scale-out workloads, Azure VMs with Ampere Altra Arm-based processors will deliver up to 50% better price-performance than equivalent x86-based VMs, as per Microsoft officials.</p>
