Regulator's Power May Further Be Diluted By The New Telecom Bill, Ex Officials Fear

<p>Former Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) and Department of Telecommunications (DoT) officials have warned that if the proposed telecom bill is passed into law in its current form, it may further erode the authority of the sector regulator. They issued a warning that such a scenario may weaken the regulatory environment, increase state interference in policymaking, hurt consumer interests, and even result in a drop in the quality of telecom services.</p>
