Regulator's Power May Further Be Diluted By The New Telecom Bill, Ex Officials Fear

<p>Former Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) and Department of Telecommunications (DoT) officials have warned that if the proposed telecom bill is passed into law in its current form,&nbsp;it may further erode the authority of the sector regulator.&nbsp;They issued a warning that such a scenario may weaken the regulatory environment, increase state interference in policymaking, hurt consumer interests, and even result in a drop in the quality of telecom services.</p>
