S Korea's SK Telecom unveils AI chip to maintain semiconductor leadership

<p>S Korea&#39;s largest carrier SK Telecom has unveiled Sapeon X220 chips designed to speed up servers catering to a range of mobile devices -- drones to self-driving vehicles -- that performs better with AI. Sapeon X220 have the size of a postage stamp and is the first Korean ASIC for data centres to be commercialised. Competition is heating up in the AI semiconductor space, as Amazon and Google are investing in own their server silicon, which is led by Nvidia Corp.</p>
