Solid State Batteries Could Be 3D Printed In Future

<p>The competition to develop a solid-state battery that may rival the lithium-ion cells is becoming more intense. Lithium-ion batteries use a flammable liquid electrolyte; solid-state batteries use a more stable solid electrolyte. &nbsp;Saku&uacute;, a California-based company, is planning on 3D-printing these next-generation batteries. It believes that 3D printing allows it to put more battery layers in the same amount of area, thus increasing the battery capacity.&nbsp;</p>
