<p>After a fire incident at an SK C&C data centre in the south of Seoul caused a mass outage over the weekend and disrupted Kakao's numerous services, including messenger, ride-hailing, payment, banking, and gaming, Whon Namkoong, the co-chief executive of Kakao, has resigned in a remarkable display of corporate accountability. KakaoTalk is South Korea's most popular messaging service, reaching approximately 47 million of the country's people each month.</p>
